OUR HISTORY

In 1982, two brothers – plumbers by trade – created a business partnership in Hastings, Victoria, laying the foundations of a family business that has since spanned over 35 years.

Initially taking on building and maintenance contracts with local businesses, the company experienced rapid growth, establishing themselves as one of the largest building maintenance companies in the region. 

With a hands-on approach and a focus on operational excellence, Freedom Facilities Management has since secured several Victorian Government maintenance contracts, and moved to a new larger premises – a head office based in Seaford, Victoria.

Today, Freedom FM is still headed up by the two brothers – Directors, Xavier and James Egan, and is supported by General Manager, Troy Pratt, who actively runs the company day-to-day.

OUR PEOPLE

The company takes great pride in its dedicated and skilled team of tradespeople, managers, and administrative staff, along with a substantial group of professional subcontractors spanning across the state of Victoria.

A strong philosophy at Freedom FM is to promote from within, and Xavier and James are incredibly proud of the tenure of their teams. 

Freedom FM’s General Manager, Troy Pratt, commenced his journey with Xavier and James in 1996. Demonstrating unwavering dedication, he successfully completed his apprenticeship, went on to manage the Projects division, and, in 2019, ascended to the pivotal role of General Manager.

Freedom FM’s Contract Managers across Victoria all ascend through the ranks, guaranteeing their acquisition of in-depth knowledge and the essential experience to deliver vital client support. It’s a source of pride that many staff choose to ‘retire’ after enjoying long and fulfilling careers with Freedom FM, a tradition that is wholeheartedly embraced.

The priority is a flexible workforce, with a large staff base distributed across 11 different locations. Team members, including Management, Administration, and Trades, collaborate seamlessly across contractual areas, exemplifying a unified approach.

Safety takes precedence, evidenced by the ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System accreditation. Continuous reviews of internal and subcontractor processes and procedures ensure unwavering commitment to vigilance and security. The company’s safety motto, “Be Sure, Be Safe,” underscores this commitment.

To this day, Freedom FM is, essentially, a family company. Numerous staff members have family members also working in the business, with family values and culture remaining central to the identity as the company continues to grow and evolve.
